Hull 1 - Barnsley 0

KC Stadium

Saturday 3rd November 3pm

Attendance: 15,598

Hull v Barnsley

Sone Aluko`s first half goal was enough to give Hull all three points at home to Barnsley at the KC stadium.

Nigerian slotted home past recalled goalkeeper Luke Steele after the Barnsley defence failed to clear their lines as John Stones attempted to head clear following a Hull corner.

Hull dominated throughout as Barnsley set out negatively in search of a point to steady the ship after last week`s drubbing to Nottingham Forest. Luke Steele kept the score line respectable with three fine saves during the game.

Barnsley`s game plan to play with no recognised striker didn`t work as the visitors managed only four shots in total with none of them on target.

One thing Barnsley do well whether they play well or not, is have their fair share of possession. Not the case today and many fans will point to the omission of Jacob Mellis as a reason for that. Quite possibly true, but hopefully not playing today will give him the inspiration he needs to battle harder for the team and up his work rate.

Tarn`s best chance fell to debutant Toni Silva but the former Liverpool winger failed to find the target.

The reds have now won just one of their last seven games and have slipped to 20th in the table, only three points above the relegation zone.
