Man City vs. Barnsley

Etihad Stadium

Saturday 9th March 2013

5.30pm

Man City v Barnsley

Barnsley travel to Manchester City for their FA cup quarter final match against the current Premier League Champions.

The super reds will take over 6,000 supporters with them and whatever happens this will be a great occasion for the fans.

Vital Quotes: Oldtimetyke

Walking along, singing a song, walking in a Flicker wonderland.

Man City Team News:

Man City are unlikely to risk Vincent Kompany or Sergio Aguero against the reds. Jack Rodwell is injured.

Kompany has missed the last six games and Aguero has knee trouble.

Player to watch: Joe Hart

He`s in for a busy day with the reds in town.

Barnsley Team News:

Stephen Dawson could return the squad after returning to training this week; however I do feel this game will be just too early for him.

Scott Goldbourne is the only long term absentee.

Chris O`Grady is cup tied.

Luke Steele has said that manager David Flitcroft has a plan in place for Man city and that they know they can`t play the same way against them as they do in the Championship.

I`m not sure what formation he will play or what players he will use. We could see one up front in this one.

The midfield is a key area and there is competition for places now. Perkins is a must and there will be either Etuhu or Tunnicliffe beside him or maybe both or maybe even a fit again Delap.

O`Brien`s form has been hit and miss but we miss his energy and effort when not in the team. Mellis has been looking well recently and Cywka is a threat too.

Up front could be Dagnall and Harewood or maybe just one of them but if Harewood is selected as a lone striker I can still see Dagnall in the team somewhere. I expect Scotland to continue on the bench.

At the back I think he needs to stick with four with the personnel available and I think he will stick with the back four that played at Burnley.

What would your team and formation be?

Player to watch: The fans

6,000 of us can out sing the Man City lot and roar the reds on to victory.

The last FA cup meeting between the two saw Man City record a 2 - 0 fifth round victory at Maine Road in February 1993. I was there.

we shouldnt have any chance, but,as long as we dont sit back like bradford did, or like we did in the prem, until it was too late,we may get something, its the cup "owt"can happen. 1-1, or 2-2 if i was a betting man.we cant keep clean sheets unfortunately.

has anyone seen the rumour of soton defender norway int vegard forren joining us on loan ?
torrox tyke
I've not heard it or seen him play. Do you know anything about him?
chiefred
soton signed him in jan, wikipedia him.

Unfortunately I can't see us winning tomorrow (mainly because the defence is not what it should be), but stranger things have happened..? I would be fantastic to come away with a draw and a replay back at Oakwell, but anything better than that would be a miracle... just hope they enjoy the occasion and play to their best! (and hope Man City are well below par).

Oh well, back to the important stuff now. Need a result against brighton.
