Leeds vs. Barnsley

Elland Road

Saturday 6th October 2012

3pm

Leeds v Barnsley

Barnsley will be looking to bounce back from two disappointing home games when they travel to Leeds United. Barnsley`s recent record against Leeds is a good and the reds will be looking to take inspiration from that going in to this fixture.

Vital Quotes:

Leeds Team News:

Leeds could be unchanged which will mean former red Andy Gray starting from the bench and former reds loanee Michael Tonge in the Leeds starting 11.

Player to watch: Becchio

Barnsley Team News:

Barnsley boss Keith Hill has confirmed Ben Alnwick will continue in goal despite Luke Steele pressing for selection.

The Barnsley defence was a shambles on Tuesday and missed Stephen Foster badly. Hopefully Foster will be fit to take part in this one or the going could be tough again with no fit recognized centre back available to Keith Hill if Fozzie doesn`t make it.

Expect Bobby Hassell to make way after a poor showing in mid-week. Bobby has been an excellent servant for the reds but I think his Championship days are behind him.

The fit again David Perkins will be pushing for a recall. I would certainly start him. However if Foster makes it I think Hill will again use Perkins from the bench and move Cranie back into the holding midfield role.

Player to watch: Foster

Hopefully Foster will be back as we missed him badly on Tuesday. I'd also bring Perkins back in as well. i think with those 2 changes theres no reason why we cant get something against Leeds

Agreed with OraStand, Tuesday showed just how much we missed Foster at the back, he seems to keep Wiseman in check and give him the confidence to play football. I'm a fan of Perks but i think Cranie has been doing really well in midfield and so maybe he could be one to bring off the bench when tired legs set in to do the ratting and keep pressure on. If we can move the ball around like we have been, show that same urgency and movement i think we can nick 3 points. Prediction Barnsley 2 - 1 Leeds

True, we were wrong and have to say the finishing was poor but we completely dominated proceedings and its definitely fair to say that Leeds fluked themselves to 3 points, but then again a foul a yard outside the box given as a pen (and their only real chance of the game) will do that to you
