Barnsley vs. Ipswich

Oakwell

Saturday 29th September 2012

Barnsley v Ipswich

Barnsley will be hoping to follow up their demolition of Birmingham City with another three points at home to struggling Ipswich. Barnsley will go in to the match as favourites following last weekend`s result but the match will be anything but easy against a team who ended Barnsley`s 4 match winning run last season.

Vital Quotes:

Barnsley Team News:

Bobby Hassell is available after a three match suspension following a red card in the home win over Bristol City. The best that Hassell can hope for is a place on the bench on his return.

John Stones (ankle) is not expected to be fit in time but summer signing Toni Silva could make his first appearance from the bench.

The match will be just too soon for Jim McNulty who is expected back in full training on Monday.

Player to watch: Davies

Ipswich Team News:

Paul Taylor and former Barnsley loan man Michael Chopra will again miss out for Ipswich.

On loan stoke defender Danny Higgingbottom is expected to start.

Player to watch: Emmanuel-Thomas

Match Facts & Stats

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is under pressure following five defeats in the last six games.

In this fixture last season Barnsley were searching for their 5th win in as many games. That was looking to be a banker when reds went in to the break with a 2 - 0 lead and playing well. Ipswich returned for the second half a different side and won the match 5 - 3.

Other forgettable encounters at home to Ipswich include a game in March 1996 which saw the reds leading 3 - 0 with five minutes remaining. A rush of blood from goalkeeper Dave Watson let Ipswich back in when he attempted to dribble out of his own box. That game finished 3 - 3.

Match Prediction:

Despite the fact that we like to throw it away from winning positions against Ipswich I think the super reds will come out on top in this one. Barnsley 3 - 0 Ipswich.

Lightning surely can't strike twice, they did the double over us last year, so we owe them and I'm sure Keith will be telling the lads to concentrate and play as they have been, for the full 90 minutes!
