Barnsley V Rochdale

In the first round of the Carling Cup this year the Reds face League 1 opposition in the form of Rochdale.

Vital Quotes:

Reds boss Mark Robins has stated that he does want to do well in the cups again this year. Last season the Reds were knocked out at Oakwell in the fourth round in a glamour tie with Manchester United in front of the TV cameras. He told the club`s official site: 'I will be sending out a strong team that can go and win the game. We want to have some cup runs this season and I will pick a side to reflect that. I will pick a side to win.'

Barnsley Team News:

Barnsley go into tonight`s game with a couple of doubts in the squad. New signings Jeronimo Neumann and Diego Arismendi are unlikely to make the squad, leaving the door open for youngsters Reuben Noble-Lazarus and Jamil Adam to make an appearance.
The Reds will want to put on a show for their fans in their first home game of the season, not least because of the embarrassing 4-0 reverse at Loftus Road we suffered on Saturday.

Player to watch: Jim O'Brien

Scottish winger Jim O'Brien has resumed light training this week after a thigh injury and is in contention for a start tonight. Big things are expected of the former Motherwell midfielder.

Rochdale Team News:

Rochdale have absolutely no injury concerns for tonight's match to Keith Hill can choose his strongest possible side to try and upset Barnsley at Oakwell.

Player to watch: Chris O'Grady

The former Rotherham United striker was signed in January and plundered an impressive 10 goals in 23 starts for the Dale, helping them to promotion from League 2.

Match Prediction:

3-2
