Moore's Claiming Burton Goal

Moore's Claiming Burton Goal

Striker Kieffer Moore has claimed the goal against Burton Albion on Tuesday evening and he felt the least Barnsley should've taken from the game was a point.

Hosting the side at Oakwell, they scored twice in the opening 45 minutes but Barnsley responded well in the second half and Moore grabbed his first goal for the club following his arrival in the January window as he got a touch on Dani Pinillos' goal bound effort, and we did have a potential penalty shout as well as a goal ruled out for offside when the assistant referee felt Mamadou Thiam was in an advanced position.

Reflecting on the match, Moore told the Official Site at the full time whistle that he felt the defeat was harsh given the balance of the game.

'The referee has called it as Mama offside and we`ve watched it back and there`s no way he could have been offside, so it`s disappointing that a decision like that has ultimately cost us. It was a disappointing first half. Obviously it`s always a disadvantage when you go 1-0 down without even touching the ball - they scored in the first two minutes. I believe, in the second half, we acted well when we went 2-0 down; we got the goal back - which I got. I believe we kept pushing and we were unlucky for that goal not to be allowed at the end.'

With new head coach Jose Morais making tactical changes at half time based on what he saw, Moore felt the changes had worked in our favour at the time and he praised his half time talk as it was positive and constructive.

'The gaffer is obviously new to this Club and he`s trying to implement his own style of how we play. He just said if we need to go direct and change our plan then we`ll change it. He changed it; he made all the shots and we got a goal back and should have had another like I said, but we were unlucky. So he tried to urge us on by changing the style of play.'

Moore went on to say.

'That`s all you can do really when you go 2-0 down. I think that`s what we`ve been lacking from our game - a bit more of a physical, direct play. When we went very direct, you saw them drop off - they were near enough in their goal for all of the second half and we eventually got possession throughout the midfield and kept circulating it and getting balls back into the box. It`s a disappointing day to not get the three points as we desperately needed them, but we`ll move onto Birmingham now. It`s going to be a dogfight now and we`re going to need every single player to put in their all.'

Having opened his club account, he ended by saying.

'I`ve placed it in, so I`m happy to get my first goal for Barnsley but disappointed to lose the game. When you get your first goal for your new team it`s always a good feeling, that kind of relief. Now I can really get the wheels in motion and I`m delighted to get credited for the goal and hopefully this is a good start for me now, and hopefully I can start the next game and score again.'
