Debut Loss For Morais - Barnsley v Burton (20/2/18)

Debut Loss For Morais - Barnsley v Burton (20/2/18)

Following today's clash between Barnsley and Burton Albion, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Barnsley hosted Burton Albion at Oakwell for a 7.45pm kick off on Tuesday February 20, with the visitors taking a two one victory.

Burton opened the scoring at Oakwell inside of the first minute through a Jamie Allen effort and Jacob Davenport doubled their advantage in first half stoppage time.

New boss Jose Morais would've hoped a fight back was on as Dani Pinillos scored with 15 minutes remaining in the game but it wasn't quite enough to save in a point in the Portuguese's first game in charge.

Townsend, Yiadom, Mills, Lindsay, Pinillos, Isgrove (Thiam 45), Gardner, Williams, Hammill (Potts 57), McBurnie, Bradshaw (Moore 72).

Davies, Moncur, Cavare, Jackson.

Bywater, Akins, Naylor, McFadzean, Dyer, Davenport, Samuelsen, Allen (Varney 88), Akpan, Sbarra (Buxton 84), Boyce (Bent 71).

Murphy, McCrory, Campbell, Barker.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Tim Robinson blew the final whistle, Barnsley head coach Jose Morais explained.

'It was a very good performance in the second half and I really believe that we're in a good direction and we will achieve what we want. There are players with quality enough to change the situation that we are in. The less good thing was that we conceded two goals in the first half. We gave space to the opponents and we weren't effective enough to have control and create chances in the first half.'

Burton Albion coach Andy Garner in his comparative interview explained.

'We deserved it tonight, especially with the first-half performance. We are absolutely delighted with the result. It was a game of two halves. We knew there would be a response in the second half and 45 minutes was a long time hanging in there. It was total bombardment, but thankfully we got the three points. Perhaps they were a little shocked at how well we played in the first 15 minutes. That's as good as we've played for a long, long time.'
