Zeki Off To A Fry-er
Zeki Fryers announced himself to Barnsley in positive fashion when he fired home a 30 yards effort in the Reds' 3-3 draw at Guiseley.
Fryers left Crystal Palace at the end of his Palace contract to sign a deal at Oakwell.
Pleased with his first run out the full back told the Official Website he was happier to get the minutes under his belt, securing a 60 minute outing on Tuesday.
He said: 'I've got another 60 minutes into my legs so it's all about building it up really, getting myself up to full match fitness.'
On the goal he simply thought 'why not' when the chance presented itself, well, they do say if you don't buy a ticket you can't win the raffle after all.
However, Fryers reiterated it's about getting 'minutes in' at this stage.
'I enjoyed the game. Especially with the goal! It just opened up for me really and I thought 'why not?' and connected unbelievably. But the importance for me is getting those minutes in.'
Looking ahead to the upcoming season Fryers has been frustrated by his lack of first team football, which has left it difficult for him to get up to match speed when called upon.
A positive pre-season should be the precursor to what he hopes will be a good season ahead for him personally and Barnsley collectively.
Fryers said: 'Last season I was barely playing, coming off the bench here and there. It's hard then to get up to speed and perform as you'd like to.'
Adding: 'To get to the level that I want to be at, I need now to be playing regularly. So these games are brilliant for us, because that's what it's all about really, getting ready for the season in front of us.'
