Barnsley continued their remarkable good form by returning from Villa Park as 3 - 1 victors on Tuesday evening.
The Villa had raided the reds in the January transfer window for two of our better players but that didn`t stop Barnsley from going to the Midlands and putting Villa to the sword.
Both front men were on the score sheet with Tom Bradshaw bagging a brace against the team he supported as a boy.
Hopefully that will be what Bradshaw needs to kick on. He showed that he is an instinctive finisher who comes alive in the box. Whilst his all round game might not be up there with Winnall`s, if his finishing can be then that`s all that matters, and you know we will work hard for the cause regardless.
Hourihane had a quiet night and controversially I don`t think we will miss him that much other than his delivery from set pieces and goals from free kicks.
In terms of all round game, impact, influence and involvement during open play, I think we have adequately replaced him with Mowatt, James and hopefully Moncur can continue to step up as he has done in the last two games.
I like many others feared for our form following the loss of Winnall, Hourihane and Bree in the transfer window but Paul Heckingbottom has remarkably kept us going and no obstacle seems to faze this manager or this group of players.
I wish the lads that left all the best in their careers but we have showed that we can move on from their departures and it was also nice to be able to beat the team that two of them signed for and on their own patch as well.
Onwards and upwards for the reds. We do have some difficult games to come and we will lose games but in general I feel like we can continue to progress under this manager and we will continue to replace players when they do eventually move on to 'bigger and better` things.
The play offs is something that I am not expecting at all but I know that this manager and group of players will be believing that it is a possibility with the way they are playing.
