Wiseman to Preston

Wiseman to Preston

Scott Wiseman looks set to be the first to exit Oakwell with a move to Preston looking extremely likely.

New Barnsley boss Danny Wilson is said to be willing to listen to offers for every player other than Martin Cranie and Luke Steele.

I can see why Wilson would like a complete squad overhaul but I think Wiseman is one of the few players he should be looking to keep.

Wiseman has been our most consistent player, other than Cranie, since Flitcroft restored him to the side after a spell out of the squad due to online abuse from fans.

Wiseman became a figure of hate for a lot of Barnsley fans purely because he took Bobby Hassell`s place in the team and partly because he is a former Rochdale player.

Wiseman`s performances have changed the opinions of many fans but there are still a lot that will always hate him no matter how well he plays.

At times Wiseman can be caught out positionally but he can usually recover because of the pace he possesses. He is a threat going forward from right back and defensively he has been solid this season.

He is one of the few players we have who can compete at this level and I think we will struggle to find a replacement as good.

The move seems to be almost a done deal and as for Wiseman himself, if I were him I would want to leave Barnsley with the way he has been treated by the 'fans`.

I hope Wilson does have a replacement lined up otherwise relegation is a certainty. If he chooses to play Cranie at right back then mark my words we are doomed.

Cranie has been our best player for some time now. He was poor at right back against Coventry but it isn`t him playing at right back that is my biggest concern. My main concern is that he will not be at centre back.

He is our best centre back by a country mile and without him there we are a shambles. The others aren`t fit to lace his boots. In my opinion both of the Coventry goals are prevented with Cranie at centre half and just look at how many goals we shipped early in the season when Cranie was injured.

I really hope Wilson knows what he is doing with this one and I wish Wiseman all the best in his future career.

i do hope that we build a squad capable of 3-5-2.i know that is my constant rant, but last yr and the yr we got to the prem, that was the productive system.maybe liam laurance is our new wing back, noble lazarus on the left ?we have a squad of quantity not quality,so yes you have to get rid before you can get people in.i agree Scott has been consistant, but the fans hate him. we need experienced proven players, yes you have to give lower league players the chance to see how good they are. weve done that now keep the core of steele, cranie, nyatanga, mellis, the polish lad, lol, our home grown lads, and the 2 scots. ps is davies coming back ?

I don't think Davies is coming back, I heard there was an enquiry made as he wasn't seeing much first team action but nothing came of it.
