Make Or Break For The Reds

The next two home games could make or break Barnsley`s season.

Following a torrid sequence games, where the reds have played just about every team that will be challenging for promotion, Barnsley now have two home games that they really need to get some points from.

On paper both are winnable but at the same time neither are easy. After the poor start to the season I believe the board will be demanding at least four points from these two fixtures and the manager and fans will be wanting six.

Failure to get at least three points or possibly four will probably see the Barnsley boss lose his job according to my sources at Oakwell.

However I don`t think it will come to that and I think Flicker and the boys will start to turn it round now that the fixture list has become a little kinder.

Barnsley can certainly take some confidence from the performance against Reading and if they can play as well as that in these two games then the chances of coming away with six points are very good as long as we take our chances.

My one worry is that confidence and morale will be low despite the performance against Reading. The Reading game gave me great encouragement and I hope it has the players despite the hammerings and lack of points to date.

Hopefully one of the central defenders will be fit enough for these games as well. Despite the amount of goals conceded this season, we have looked a lot more solid since Cranie returned from injury. However if Cranie turns out to be the only fit central defender I fear we may need to score three to win the game.

The injuries at the back this season have been just as cruel as the fixture list but that does not take away how poorly we have performed compared to last season and the way we have capitulated in some games.

Now is the time to get back to the Barnsley of last season, we saw it against Reading and I want to see it in every game for the rest of this season. I believe we can turn the corner and it starts with three points against 'Boro. COYR.
