Who Would Be In Your Barnsley Team?

Who Would Be In Your Barnsley Team?

In previous Championship seasons the Barnsley starting eleven has virtually picked itself. This season is slightly different as boss David Flitcroft has a few selection dilemmas which can only be a good thing.

Another benefit that Flicker has brought is that we are now comfortable in a variety of different systems. I expect 5-3-2 to be his main one if the right personnel are fit with 4-4-2 being next in the pecking order.

Flicker and this squad are flexible don`t rule out playing some variation of 4-5-1 depending on the opposition.

I think Flitcroft now knows his best team in both his preferred formations and when everyone is fit I think this is how he will set the team up:

5-3-2 (3-5-2)

GK Steele
CB Cranie
CB Nyatanga
CB Kennedy
RWB Wiseman
LWB Golbourne
CM Perkins
CM Dawson
CM Mellis
ST Dagnall
ST O`Grady

Subs
Alnwick
N`voto
Etuhu
O`Brien
Jennings
Scotland
Cywka

4-4-2

GK Steele
RB Wiseman
CB Cranie
CB Nyatanga
LB Golbourne
RM Dawson
CM Etuhu
CM Perkins
LM Mellis
ST Dagnall
ST O`Grady

Subs
Alnwick
Kennedy
O`Brien
Jennings
Cywka
Scotland
Cofie

That is how I think he will go, given the teams he has put out in pre-season and how we played last season.

What formation would you pick? And who would be in your team?
