Thank You Stephen Foster

Thank You Stephen Foster

Following news that Barnsley have released Stephen Foster I felt a need to come on here and thank him for his services to the team over the last six years.

Foster has always been one of my favourite players during his time at Barnsley.

Steady away and unspectacular but what more do you need from a centre half?

During his time with the reds Foster always gave everything for the team and was a model pro throughout his Barnsley career.

He has been a big part of our Championship survival year after year and was also part of very nearly two great cup runs to Wembley.

Foster has seen many centre backs come and go over the years. Many were brought in by managers to replace Foster but he continued to see off the challenge and deservedly so.

When many fans reflect on his career with Barnsley they will realise just how important he has been to the team over the years.

I said the other day I would have probably given him another year as cover but I trust Flicker and he has probably got this one right, that is unless no centre half wants to join the Flitcroft revolution.

His best days are behind him but that does not take anything away from how good he has been for us over the years.

So I would just like to thank Stephen Foster for his service to Barnsley Football Club and wish him all the best at his next club.

I am already preparing for another one of these for this time next year and I`m pretty sure we all know who that thank you will be for.
