Flicker Rules out Howard Return

Barnsley manager David Flitcroft has ruled out a return to the club for former skipper Brian Howard.

Flicker admitted it was a possibility that the reds were looking into once Howard recovered from injury but the move now seems unlikely.

The Barnsley boss feels that the midfield area is pretty well covered. Perkins and O`Brien seem to have secured their places as well as Dawson once he has recovered from injury.

He also points to the emergence of Etuhu in that position and the fact that Delap can also play in midfield with Wiseman capable of deputising at wing back.

Then there is also Mellis and Cywka who can`t get into the team and the reds boss also doesn`t want to unsettle the current squad no that he feels there is depth in every position and with things going well at the moment.

Adds nothing for me at this stage. We are settled through the middle and I dont want to see that balance upset. Mellis is suitable back up. Wait for someone who would improve the team Flicker!

No point paying wages for someone who might not even get on the bench. I do wonder what has happened with his career since he left Barnsley.

Actually thinking about that point, I'm struggling to remember anyone going on to bigger and better things, when they've left Barnsley..? but I'll stand corrected if anybody can name anyone! I do hope young Stones goes on to better things though.

I think you're right. They usually leave too early for the money and it ruins their careers. I hope Stones proves to be the exception to the rule though.
