Approach Made For Butcher

Barnsley have made an official approach for Inverness manager Terry Butcher following Sean O`Driscoll`s decision to turn down the club.

Butcher was a natural leader as a player and represented England 77 times.

Before managing Inverness Caledonian Thistle he had spells at Coventry, Sunderland, Sydney, Motherwell and Brentford.

Butcher has done well at Inverness but his appointment at Oakwell won`t inspire the fans who are hoping for a manager of Championship experience and preferably with a track record of promotion and saving teams from the drop.

The move is somewhat unexpected after the Don Rowing stated the club were on the lookout for an out of work manager as they weren`t in a position to pay compensation.

Don't think this one will happen, (Compensation issues etc...) If S O'D is turning the club down, you can guarantee we'll end up with someone who's just desperate to get a job back in football, even without a budget to spend, but unfortunately that's the position the club finds itself in at this moment in time...Div 1 is inevitable.

Agreed. we will end up with someone with a poor track record who's just desperate for a job. League One here we come and we probably won't be back.

Nice and positive guys! Lets take a punt and go for a unknown rather than someone with a poor record! Al Bailey and Pele?

pat fenlon!!

Keelan Hall would be a better shout than Al Bailey and Pele. Talks to take place with Butcher over the next 48 hours.

Hard to be positive "Oldtime", with players potentially going left, right and centre, but whoever comes in you've got to give them a fighting chance, they won't have any money to buy any better replacements, so we'll have to give youth a chance, then if we do go down, we can hopefully bounce back soon..?
Engleberthumbertyke
Buyers needed. I once saw them sell the transporter bridge on au wiedersehen pet via the internet. Maybe we should place an add!

On the point of youth that you mention Englebert, I think that is the only thing the club have to be positive about at the moment with Stones, Digby, RNL, Clark, Rose and possibly a few more. Won't be long until they're all sold though.
