Interviews Have Begun

Barnsley have today began interviews for the vacant post of manager and expect the process to be complete before the next the league game.

Is it me or do the club seem to stroll through every process with no urgency or concept of the position we are in?

Upon hearing the news of Keith Hill`s dismissal I assumed the club had already got someone lined up and he would be appointed by the day after the Peterborough game at the latest.

I thought that man was Sean O`Driscoll following his sacking at Nottingham Forest. This may have been the case but I am led to believe that he can`t take another job until he sorts out his compensation package with Forest. If he was the target then surely Barnsley should have done their homework a bit better.

The names I`m hearing the most now are Megson and Blackwell. Don Rowing stated they would not be paying compensation for any in work manager. I thought that would rule out Blackwell but apparently not as he has a clause in his contract from when he first took the job.

I have nothing against either of those two but I`m not sure it`s what we need. I think they would probably tighten the defence up but their long ball philosophies with the smallest squad in the league probably wouldn`t work.

Don`t be surprised if they just give the job to Mickey Mellon because they can`t get/won`t pay anyone else.

Mellon assisted Flitcroft at Peterborough. The former Fleetwood manager was harshly sacked by them but he is certainly not what we need.

Rowing has stated we need someone who can work with a budget. Mellon had bags of cash at Fleetwood and hasn`t managed at this level so no for me.

An appointment needs to happen fast. As the club take their time over this we will find ourselves deeper and deeper in trouble and if a few players are sold before they get a manager in then will any manager want the job?

O'driscoll seems to have moved in the markets. Fenlon for me but I know we will not pay. So Cotterill.....

O'Driscoll has been at Oakwell today. If the reds want him they best make their move as there are rumours Wolves could be ready to make a move after a poor season.
