Steele Desperate To Stay

Barnsley goalkeeper Luke Steele has expressed his desire to stay at the club and said overall it has been the happiest time of his career.

Steele along with Craig Davie are out of contract in the summer and there has been no talks as yet with talks expected in January.

Steele is keen to put pen to paper as long as the right deal is in place and as no intention of leaving Oakwell in the foreseeable future.

For me Steele and Davies are Barnsley`s too most important players and if one or both were to leave I fear relegation would be a certainty.

Steele also spoke of what a great honour it was that he had now been given the captains armband.

Manager Keith Hill said Steele was an obvious choice due to the length of time he had been at the club, the experience he has, the respect he has from the players and the fact that the fans love him.

Hill also said that it seemed to be a bit of a poisoned challis to outfield players who seemed to suffer dips in form or receive abuse from fans. I think the abuse from fans part could have been directed at the Scott Wiseman twitter abuse although Hill did say that he wasn`t having a go at any fans or players with what he was saying.
