Hill Wants High Tempo at Watford

Barnsley boss Keith Hill has stated in his pre match conference that he wants the reds to go to Watford and play at a much higher tempo then they have recently.

Under Hill Barnsley have retained possession well but this is done at a pedestrian pace and it seems Hill has realised the tempo needs to be upped if Barnsley are to create more goal scoring opportunities.

Hill was left frustrated against Burnley with his side`s lack of conviction in the final third. Getting there wasn`t the problem but once they did almost every player seemed content to pass the ball backwards instead of putting in a cross or taking a shot.

Hill saw enough of this on Tuesday and wants the reds to be more positive. The Barnsley boss rightly pointed out that they scored with the first cross they put in but too many times his players opt for the wrong option.

It looks to me as if Hill has stressed this to the players this week so hopefully we will see an improvement in this area.

If he gets the defending at set pieces sorted then I think we can compete with most teams in this league and hopefully it will lead to the reds staying up.
