'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sir Bobby

Barnsley boss Keith Hill has confirmed that Bobby Hassell could go out on loan should Bobby feel that it is to his own benefit.

With Hassell currently out of the team, Hill has confirmed he would not stand in his way if a club came in for him.

Hill admitted Hassell is still part of his plans but couldn`t guarantee him first team football anymore and now only sees him as an option in one position.

Bobby`s best position throughout his Barnsley career has been right back but Hill now feels that Hassell`s ageing legs are only suited to a defensive midfield role when operating a diamond formation.

Midfield for me has never been where Hassell has performed best in a Barnsley shirt. However I do think Hill could be right about his days at right back being numbered if the back end of last season is anything to go by.

When he came up against anyone with any pace he was getting skinned with ease. Most Barnsley fans won`t like hearing this as many believe Hassell should still be the first name on the team sheet.

I agree that he has been a Barnsley legend throughout his time at the club but age and injuries catch up with every player eventually.

yes bobby has been a quality player for us and a legend but i agree the last few times he's played at full back he's not been up to the task. i hope we offer him a new deal for next season as cover though so he can have a testimonial as he deserves one for his service to the club

He definitely deserves that. I think he will get it but may spend some time out on loan.
