Scott Goldbourne

The Forest performance was poor by the entire team but that game aside overall we`ve played pretty well this season.

During the season one thing has stuck out to me. In almost every game Scott Goldbourne has been the weak link in the team and it looks as though Keith Hill has got a blind spot when it comes to picking him.

There was a spell during the season where I felt he was improving but the last few games he`s taken a backwards step and played his part in two of the goals we conceded against Forest.

With the way we have played in many games this season and in the modern game the role of the full back going forward is increasingly important. For me Goldbourne has been poor at that all season.

He never looks comfortable on the ball and unless he has an easy pass on there is clear panic to be seen in his body language.

Rarely does he get beyond his man and overlap as a full back should and his end product is often wanting. He seems reluctant to get a cross in when the opportunity arises but when he does get one over first time they usually aren`t bad. He`s a quick lad as well but never uses his pace to beat his man or in fact never seems to use it at all.

Defensively I thought he was improving apart from in the air where his attempts to win the ball are token gestures rather than actual attempts. But today he was second to balls he got to first (if that`s even possible) and pulled out of or half went in to a number of challenges that were 60-40 in his favour.

After the display against Forest, Hill definitely needs to make a number of changes for the next game. Goldbourne certainly needs to be one of the players to make way. I fear however that Hill`s blind spot towards Goldbourne will mean he will remain at left back or even worse move to left wing role.

Completely agree, goldbourne has consistnatly been poor all season and yet always seems to remain on the picth and start every game. I think the manager definatly has a blind spot when it comes to him

What? I honestly couldnt disagree more, Golbourne has been a massive player for us so far this season, he shows excellent vision for a left back, strong in the tackle and is often involved in some of our best moves. His work rate is second to none and if it wasnt for him i think we would be in the relegation places right now

He clearly divides opinion. For me for everything he does well, he does something bad to even it up. I think his main problem is that he lacks confidence and could be a decent player if he got that sorted.
