Rooney Deal Complete

Rooney Deal Complete

Barnsley have finally completed the signing of John Rooney after red tape held up the deal.

The reds received the international clearance they needed to complete the deal and have now signed the 21 year old on a contract until the end of the season.

The deal was held up due to concerns that his contract with Orlando City was still valid after the transfer window closed on the 31st August. This would have prevented him signing for the reds until the January transfer window.

Rooney played for Macclesfield before moving to MLS side New York Red Bulls in January 2011.

He struggled to make an impact in New York and moved to third tier side Orlando after one season.

On first look his track record doesn`t look too impressive but could he be another rough diamond that Keith Hill feels he can develop into a Championship player.
