Rooney Deal on Hold

Rooney Deal on Hold

Barnsley may have to wait until the January transfer window to complete the signing of midfielder John Rooney after the deal hit a snag over international clearance.

Barnsley were all set to sign Rooney on a contract until the end of season. However it has emerged that his deal with previous club Orlando City was still valid after the previous transfer window closed. All this means he would not be able to sign for another club until the January transfer window opened.

Barnsley General Managing Don Rowing has said that there is some confusion about when deal expires and that the reds are awaiting confirmation from the FA that should be in the next few days.

If the deal is unable to go through now, it is expected that the reds will sign Rooney up in January and that the player will remain training at Oakwell until then.
