Barnsley Set To Sign Rooney

Barnsley have offered a contract to John Rooney, the brother of Manchester United and England forward Wayne Rooney.

The 21 year old attacking midfield player has been on a four week trial at Oakwell and looks set to sign a permanent contract until the end of the season.

Rooney, like his brother, started his career at Everton but comes to Barnsley having recently been playing in America with Orlando City.

The reds are just awaiting international clearance before the transfer can be complete and reds boss Keith Hill expects it to be a further few weeks before Rooney is up to the standard of competing for a first team place.
