Coppinger Deal Agreed

Barnsley have agreed a deal with Doncaster Rovers to sign James Coppinger on loan. The reds are now just waiting on the player to decide as a number of other clubs are also interested in taking him off Dean Saunders` hands.

Coppinger has been with Doncaster since 2004, making over 300 appearances and scoring 33 goals in the process.

The 31 year old played a vital role in Doncaster`s promotion to the Championship and was a consistent player during their time in the second tier.

Coppinger was on the books at Newcastle as a youngster and has also played for Hartlepool and Exeter.

Coppinger was involved in getting both Neil Austin and Antony Kay sent for the reds in a heated encounter at Oakwell in 2005.

Barnsley boss Keith Hill has had to look into the loan market due to the current injury crisis at the club and Coppinger could prove to be a good addition for the reds if he agrees to the deal.
