McNulty to Skipper Reds

Barnsley boss Keith Hill has confirmed that defender Jim McNulty will captain the reds for the forthcoming season.

McNulty impressed last season in a back line that leaked goals and Keith Hill sees him as the right man to lead the reds this season.

McNulty has the respect of his fellow players after being named the players player of the season in his first season at Oakwell.

Hill stressed that he didn`t want the armband to be a burden on anyone and if the pressure of having it was too much for any individual he would swap it about.

I like McNulty as a player but I`m not sure whether he has the leadership qualities required to captain a team at Championship level. Having said that, when I look at the squad I see no obvious candidates so all in all a good decision with who is available.
