Big Season for Youngsters

Next season at Oakwell will be a big season for some of the clubs youngsters. Barnsley boss Keith Hill is looking to make Championship quality signings but also knows that the academy lads are now starting to knock on the door.

More chances will be available next season especially as it looks as though the football league will be going back to 7 subs. The likes of Digby, Noble-Lazurus, Rose, Clark and Stones could all push for first team places.

I for one think Digby looks as though he has the makings of a top player. Barnsley currently don`t have many central midfield players and Digby showed glimpses of quality in his few appearances last season. I`m sure Hill will be looking to strengthen the midfield area but Digby, to me, looks like a genuine first team prospect.

I would also like to see Noble-Lazarus begin to stake a claim. He hasn`t quite lived up to the hype yet and I think Davey did him no favours playing him as a 15 year old. He has played a few times for the first team now and he needs to be pushing for a first team place.

With the finances available to Barnsley, these young players could be very important for the clubs future. Only time will tell how far they can come but I am fairly optimistic about the current crop we have.
