'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Where are they now? Promotion squad 96/97

Watson began and finished his career at Barnsley after coming through the youth system at Oakwell.

Royston lad Watson was one of finest keepers to play for Barnsley and a pivitol cog in the Tykes machine during the promotion and even the seasons after but unfortunately a knee injury cut his career short having spent two years recovering.

Watson went on to be a goalkeeping coach at lower league teams such as Northampton and Huddersfield. He then replaced Nigel Spink at Birmingham City and has been praised for enhancing performances and careers of Joe Hart, Ben Foster and Jack Butland.
