Rumour Mill - Michael Tonge

Rumour Mill - Michael Tonge

Sky Sports are today reporting that Barnsley are in advanced talks with Stoke City midfielder Michael Tonge.

Since Moving to the Brittania for a reported fee of 2 million pounds, Tonge has found first team football limited and has had loan spells with both Preston North End and Derby County.

Tonge rose to fame with eye-catching displays in Sheffield United's cup runs in 2003, scoring twice in a 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Bramall Lane.

Its seems Keith Hill has moved quickly following Saturdays woeful display against Millwall, where centre midfield was clearly struggling with the recent losses of Danny Drinkwater and Jacob Butterfield.

An experienced Championship midfielder, Tonge certainly would fit the bill of the creative midfielder Hill is looking for.
