Hill Rejects Reds
Barnsley Football Club's preferred choice for the vacant manager's position has rejected a move to Oakwell.
Rochdale boss Keith Hill held talks with the club earlier this week and they failed to come to an agreement on a suitable compensation package for Hill and his coaching staff to join Barnsley.
Hill told the BBC that 'the most difficult thing to turn down was the opportunity to manage in the Championship.'
Hill led Rochadale to promotion from League Two in 2010 and finished 9th in League One last season.
He continued: 'We've decided to stay at Rochdale because we are ambitious but we're also happy in our work at Rochdale. There shouldn't be this misconception that we're desperate to leave. We're not. It will be difficult to leave and when the right proposition presents itself.'
So Barnsley's search for a new manager goes on, with the club hoping to announce an appointment next week.
