Robins Resigns

Robins Resigns

The news broke last night that after a short period of contemplation, Mark Robins has decided to resign as the manager of Barnsley Football Club.

Robins had been placed on notice by the club on Thursday after showdown meetings with the board during the week prior.

General Manager Don Rowing announced on BBC Radio Sheffield that the board fully expected Mark to be the manager of the club next season but that they were waiting for him to make up his mind after delcaring that he wanted to 'consider his position.'

The news leaves Barnsley without a manager and on the hunt for their fourth manager since returning to the Championship in 2006.

Early front runners according to the bookies are ex-Barnsley boss Danny Wilson, Roberto Di Matteo and Chris Hughton.

Personally I can't see any of these people being named boss and would place more money on Barnsley promoting Ronnie Branson from the position of Academy Manager. That fits much better with Rowing's phrase 'cut our cloth accordingly.'
