Robins Hoping For Strong Finish

Despite being firmly wedged in midtable, with little chance of being relegated and even less chance of making the play-offs, Mark Robins is still hoping his side can finish the season strongly.

Robins, who joined the Reds in September 2009, has almost completed his first full season in charge, with Barnsley sitting in 16th position with 47 points, seven points off last seasons total.

However, Robins wants to smash that total and give Barnsley their highest finish since promotion back to the Championship in 2006.

With just 8 games left, there's a huge temptation to get complacent, but Barnsley fans will be hoping that the players aren't in holiday mode already and won't be throwing the towel in just yet.

Robins told The Star: 'We`re looking for results and I want the players to play the way they did at times earlier in the season.'

The Reds' season tailed off in January and February when it looked as though they might have been able to mount a play-off push. That is pie in the sky now but there's still points to play for and extra prize money depending on their final position in the league.
