A Win At Last!

A Win At Last!

It's been over a month since the Reds last recorded a win but Barnsley stepped up tonight and beat Scunthorpe United at Oakwell 2-1.

Loan striker Marlon Harewood picked up the man of the match award for his second half brace that saw off the Iron, with Michael Collins grabbing a very late consolation for the visitors.

A drab first half ended with the scores level at 0-0 and the Reds looked like they were in need of a kick up the backside. Whatever Mark Robins said at half-time worked because they came out looking for the win.

Doyle saw a strike rebound off the post after a good save by Lillis but Harewood was on hand to tap in his first goal for Barnsley.

Harewood showed his class seven minutes from time with a great lobbed finish over Lillis to seal the victory for Barnsley.

Michael Collins spoilt Luke Steele's night with an injury time goal for Scunthorpe but the Reds held on for three points and sent their lowest crowd of the season home happy.

I see your month and raise you another two. We'd almost forgotten what it felt like.
