Reds Sign Chelsea Midfielder

Reports on Sky Sports News suggest that Barnsley have signed Jacob Mellis on loan from Chelsea.

The young midfielder has signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge, keeping him at the club until 2013 and joins Mark Robins' Barnsley on loan to gain some first team experience.

The 20 year old has made one appearance for Chelsea, coming on as a substitute in the 89th minute in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Zilina in the UEFA Champions League in November this season.

I hope it's true. Our youngsters need more time on loan.

Interesting news .. Can't see it (yet) on the official sites though. He is a promising player, a good presence in the center of the park. Hopefully he gets some playing time and helps your club out in the process
