Barnsley V Coventry City: Last Time Out

Coventry City have a hoodoo over Barnsley in Coventry that spans 87 years, but they're forming something of a jynx at Oakwell too of late.

Barnsley last beat Coventry City at Oakwell when both teams were in the Premier League. The Sky cameras were watching as Ashley Ward and Neil Redfearn gave the Reds a 2-0 win with a man of the match performance by Dave Watson in goal helping them along.

Fast forward almost 12 years to August 2009. Coventry reversed the scoreline in front of an expectant Oakwell crowd to continue a miserable start to the season for the Reds.

Rob Kozluk was sent off on the hour mark and goals after eight minutes from Leon Best and eight minutes from time from Clinton Morrison gave the Sky Blues the win.

A win for the Reds in this fixture would continue the regrowth of their confidence following the impressive display at Nottingham Forest.

Teams: Barnsley 0 Coventry City 2 (15/08/09)

BFC: Steele, Hassell, Moore, Foster, Kozluk, Campbell-Ryce, Da Silva, Butterfield (Sodje 79), Hammill, Macken (Hume 67), Bogdanovic (Odejayi 66).

CCFC: Westwood, Wright, Cranie (Grandison 72), Van Aanholt, Turner, Gunnarsson, Clingan, Osbourne, McIndoe, Morrison, Best (Jeffers 80).
