'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ref's Gaffe Changed Game

Mark Robins did not cut a happy figure today following the Reds' 2-2 draw at the City Ground with Nottingham Forest.

Forest's unbeatean home run of 30 games was deeply under threat by Barnsley when the referee, Mr Whitestone, handed them a get out of jail free card on 67 minutes.

Robins told the club's official site: 'The players, the press, one of my directors, everybody is telling me it was outside the box. That penalty incident changed the game.'

Lewis McGugan slotted home the penalty for Forest before Nathan Tyson pounced on a loose ball in the Barnsley box after an excellent tackle by Jason Shackell to dig Forest out of a hole and rescue a point against a Barnsley side who were as Robins rightly thought 'more than good value for the win.'

For Robins as well as the fans, it must have felt like a defeat having been leading for more than 50 minutes. Robins couldn't hide his disappointment at the result: 'It is galling that when we come to big clubs it seems as though the game changing decisions go against us. We do feel aggrieved because we should have had all three points and they had a bit of help today.'

However he praised his players' performance in the face of adversity: 'We were more than comfortable at that point and we stuck to our plan well. It was a very decent performance.'
