Does O'Connor In Mean Hammill Out?

Earlier on today the news broke that Barnsley will sign Garry O'Connor on a permanent basis in the January transfer window.

The Scot has spent two separate loan spells endearing himself to the Barnsley faithful with some fine displays and Patrick Cryne has once again made funds available for extra wages to accomodate the signing we all wanted.

However, with O'Connor coming to us from Birmingham City, a Premier League club paying Premier League wages, it has to be considered that O'Connor will very likely become our highest paid player.

I just wonder whether we would be able to sign O'Connor and pay him what he wants if we were genuinely optimistic of retaining Adam Hammill, who is most likely one of the top earners at the club currently, having also arrived from a Premier League club.

Today's news although good, may be the silver lining to the cloud about to arrive.
