What? Praise For The Referee?
Normally they only get bad press at Oakwell, but the referee for yesterday's game at Barnsley, a Mr Graham Salisbury, had a good game in my opinion.
It wasn't the dirtiest of games at Oakwell yesterday, with the worst challenge being a late one on Goran Lovre by on loan midfielder Jordan Mutch in the first half.
In fact, there were no bookings at all for either side, but the referee isn't just winning praise here for keeping his cards in his pocket. Far from it.
Fundamentally, he made the correct decisions the majority of the time (and I'm not just saying that because he gave us a lot of free kicks because it will actually very even in terms of free kicks), which is something most fans will tell you is a rarity at any football league ground
It's easy to blame the referee if you lose a game and he's made a bad call on a big decision, but yesterday Barnsley had only themselves to blame for dropping two points against a resilient Watford side.
