Barnsley 5 Leeds United 2
Barnsley scored 5 goals in a league match for the first time in 5 years as they demolished their Yorkshire rivals Leeds United.
The old comeback kings were given a lesson in coming back from the dead as the Reds turned a 1-0 deficit into a 5-2 drubbing.
Howson opened the scoring for Leeds United after just 4 minutes of play, smashing a low drive in from 12 yards after Kilkenny provided a low cross from a corner kick.
It took the Reds almost 40 minutes to get back into the game but they did it in style through debutant Garry O'Connor, who finished well after some fine work by man of the match Adam Hammill.
Five minutes after the restart the Reds had taken the lead, this time through another Scotsman and another debutant, in the shape of winger Jim O'Brien who finished a lightning quick break by Barnsley from close range after Luke Steele had made a good save at the other end seconds earlier.
Loanee Diego Arismendi made it three on 65 minutes with perhaps the pick of the goals on the night, side footing a fine effort into the net from an acute angle.
Two more quick fire goals completed the rout for the Reds with ten minutes to spare, Neill Collins inadvertantly heading into his own net after a cross from Jay McEveley and Adam Hammill grabbing a deserved solo goal after stealing possession from the ensuing kick off and running through the entire Leeds team before a fine finish.
There was still time for Davide Somma to grab another goal for Leeds but the celebrations were muted from the 7000 away supporters and barely drowned out the choruses of 'It's Just Like Watching Brazil'
The Reds moved to the dizzy heights of 7th with this emphatic victory on home soil, setting up a delicious encounter on Saturday with Nigel Clough's Derby County.
That will do very nicely thank you!
