'If It's Football, It's Vital'

On This Day

A double goal blitz in the space of five minutes sent Nottingham Forest packing from Oakwell in this fixture in the Reds' promotion season of 2005/2006.

Barry Conlon opened the scoring on 41 minutes poking the ball home from close range after a Martin Devaney free-kick caused mayhem in the Forest box.

Devaney was the architect once again four minutes later as the Reds sealed the win in first half injury time with Chris Shuker firing the ball into the top corner.

Barnsley: Colgan, Austin, Reid, Carbon, Williams, Shuker, Kay, Burns (Wroe, 71), Devaney, Hayes (Nardiello, 74), Conlon (Richards, 82)
Subs not used: Flinders,Tonge,

A clinical display by Marc Richards earned the Reds a repeat of the result at the City Ground in January as the Reds pressed on towards eventual promotion.
