Ex Canaries With Barnsley
Norwich City fans will get to see two of their old boys on Saturday when Barnsley visit Carrow Road.
Ex-Norwich captain Jason Shackell joined the Reds this summer from Wolves and was immediately appointed captain at Barnsley. He made 145 appearances in total for the Canaries after graduating from their productive academy, scoring three goals.
The other familiar face for the Canaries will be Barnsley manager Mark Robins. Robins joined Norwich for £800,000 from Manchester United in 1992 and made 65 starts over the course of his two and a half year stay at Carrow Road, scoring 21 goals. He earned an even bigger money move to Leicester City in January 1995, the Canaries tying up a tidy profit of £200,000 on the striker.
As good club servants, Shackell and Robins should be able to expect a good reception from the Carrow Road crowd.
Other notable players that plied their trade at both Barnsley and Norwich City are Paul Hayes, Ashley Ward and Mike Sheron.
