Barnsley Striker To Go

With just two days to go until the summer transfer window closes, the rumours about Iain Hume leaving Barnsley are still circulating.

Preston North End have been cited as one of the clubs interested in the Canadian International, but yesterday after the victory over Middlesbrough at Oakwell, Mark Robins revealed that Brighton & Hove Albion had thrown their hat into the ring.

Hume's first club Tranmere Rovers are also considered to be contenders for his signature. He made 100 league starts for The Rovers before leaving in 2005 for £500,000 to join Leicester City.

Simon Davey brought Hume to Barnsley for £1.2m in 2008 but his Barnsley career was blighted by a fractured skull just a few months in after a collision with Sheffield United's Chris Morgan in a hot tempered clash at Oakwell.

Since completing his recovery it's been a frustrating time for Hume at Barnsley as he's been in and out of the side and, despite the supporters' admirable patience, he hasn't been the same player since the injury.

Mark Robins has told the BBC however, that he is in no rush to offload Hume, unless an acceptable offer comes in for him, but Barnsley will probably be open to most cash offers, since Hume can leave next summer for free.
