Impressive Gray In Bid To Stay

Last night's victory over York City kicked off the Reds' pre-season campaign in good fashion, with two goals from the striker and a clean sheet.

Andy Gray scored two fine goals to put the game to bed at the Kit Kat Crescent and has drawn favourable comment from Reds boss Mark Robins, who told BBC Radio Sheffield: 'If he keeps playing like that I've 100% confidence he'll be staying here.'

Gray had something of a stop start season last year with Barnsley, but an injury in the game against Watford didn't help. However Robins has revealed that Gray continued to present himself as fit for every game in case he was needed.

Vital Barnsley reported earlier this month on the rumour that Gray was on his way out of the club, with a possible move to Portsmouth on the cards, but it looks like Robins may want to keep hold of the Harrogate born hitman. A few more similar performances certainly wouldn't go amiss.

Having said that, didn't Kayode Odejayi score something like 7 in 7 in pre-season last year?
