No Number 9?

No Number 9?

Barnsley Football Club have announced their squad numbers for the 2010/11 season today on the club`s official site.

They are as follows:

1. Luke Steele
2. Bobby Hassell
3. Jay McEveley
4. Jason Shackell
5. Nathan Doyle
6. Stephen Foster
7. Iain Hume
8. Jim O`Brien
9.
10. Goran Lovre
11. Martin Devaney
12. David Preece
13.
14. Adam Hammill
15.
16. Liam Dickinson
17. Jamil Adam
18.
19. Jacob Butterfield
20.
21.
22. Luke Potter
23. Diego Arismendi
24. Reuben Noble-Lazarus
25. O`Neil Thompson
26. Conor Branson
27. Andy Gray
28. Danny Fearnehough
29. Alistair Taylor
30. Steven Bennett

Now, squad numbers are just numbers at the end of the day. Players might be superstitious and have a lucky number but to us they`re just numbers.

However, what is interesting and encouraging is that the number 9 has not yet been assigned to anyone, possibly indicating that Robins is yet to sign his main striker and that we don`t need to pin all our goalscoring hopes on Liam Dickinson who in all fairness is unproven at this level.
