Thompson And Colace On The Move?

Halfway through May we already have two new faces in at Oakwell and we've said goodbye to a good few more, but we could be about to lose a couple more from the ranks.

Simon Davey, now boss at Conference side Darlington, wants to take O'Neil Thompson from our hands. Thompson was one of Davey's last signings at the club, joining up in August 2009, a month before Davey and Barnsley parted ways and consequently made only two appearances in a Barnsley shirt.

The 26 year old Jamaican international struggled to break into Mark Robins' set up but Davey sees him as an ideal signing and his enquiry has been confirmed by Robins.

Meanwhile, the Reds are NOT waiting with baited breath over the decision Hugo Colace is or isn't about to make. He has been offered a new deal, some time ago now, but is taking after Bogdanovic by mulling over the offer for a while.

Robins is not one to wait around though and he is lining up potential replacements in case the Player of the Year turns the offer down or doesn't even respond to it.

He told the club's official site: '...he wants more time to think over his next move. That is his prerogative but we cannot afford to stand still and we will be keeping our options open as well.'

So we could be about to see our Player of the Season and our top goalscorer depart the club but with the behaviour they've shown, do we really want them at the club anyway? If anyone with a passion for the club was offered a contract to play for Barnsley they'd snap it up immediately.

This 'time to think' is just stalling for other club's to enter into talks for the players signature. It's obvious they want to move on but will stay if nothing else crops up. That's not good enough really.
