Poll Result: Boggy To Stay

Your votes have been counted and your votes indicate that you think Bogdanovic will re-sign with Barnsley this year.

After almost two weeks of voting on Vital Barnsley you have indicated that you believe Boggy will remain a Barnsley player beyond his current contract which ends this summer.

The club announced a couple of weeks ago that they had entered into negotiations with Daniel Bogdanovic over extending his stay with Barnsley and a little over a week ago, director Don Rowing told the Sheffield Star "We have spoken to his agent and we are waiting for a response.'

So far nothing further has leaked out of Oakwell giving the impression that the player is considering the offer.

Now I`m all for people being paid what they deserve. Heaven knows I go on about it all the time in my day job, but these days where agents tout players around clubs and sell to the highest bidder just sickens me.

There are some mercenaries within the game who exist simply to get out of football whatever they can. I`m not too hot on whether or not I can name them or not so I won`t but it`s sad to know that gone are the days when a player was loyal to their club.

Most of the fans would don their club`s shirt and turn out week in week out for nothing. I would. But the sad fact is that players careers are over pretty quickly and they need to make enough while they are able to. Whether or not that gives them the right to squeeze every last drop out of a club is up for debate.

I hope first of all that the club have made a considerably improved offer, given the prowess Daniel has showed in his time at Barnsley so far. Second of all I hope that Daniel himself will consider the terms and not just a greedy fat cat who would have him sit on the bench at Sheffield United if it meant he made a little more money.

We`ll see.

Vital Barnsley`s next poll asks: Who would you not mind releasing in the summer?
