Preece Extends Oakwell Deal

Barnsley Football Club have confirmed today that goalkeeper David Preece has signed a new one year contract extension at Oakwell, keeping him at the club until summer 2011.

The 33 year old shot stopper has been understudy to Luke Steele for most of the season but stepped between the sticks in September while Steele was out injured, helping the Reds to victories over Derby County and Burnley and a draw against Swansea City.

It must have been an easy decision for the club to offer a new one year deal to a perfectly able 'keeper, who is happy to sit on the bench week in week out, rather than begin a search for a new one in the summer.
