The highest scoring game between the two teams was in the 2005/2006 when Barnsley beat Scunthorpe at Oakwell en route to promotion to the Championship via the Play-Offs. The goals came from Martin Devaney, Bobby Hassell, Marc Richards, Chris Shuker and Paul Hayes.

The Reds` biggest victory however was a 5-0 thrashing in 1974 at Oakwell but Scunthorpe went one better in the first meeting between the two teams in 1954 with a 6-0 victory.
