Robins Happy With New Acquisition

Draughted into the squad yesterday and handed a place in the starting line up last night, Kieran Trippier made his Barnsley debut at the Riverside in the Reds 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough.

Trippier came in to replace the suspended Ryan Shotton, who sat out the first of his four game suspension after a foul on Lloyd Doyley in Barnsley`s win over Watford at Oakwell.

On loan from the richest club in the world Manchester City, the 19 year old Trippier slotted in at full back alongside Darren Moore and Stephen Foster and impressed Barnsley boss Mark Robins with his debut.

Robins told Barnsley Player: "I thought Kieran came in and had an outstanding debut. I thought he did really well in what was a below par first half performance."

The Reds gave away two first half goals to Boro and only managed one goal in a spirited second half response.

Robins has called for his side to start playing better in the first half. Barnsley have conceded first in 17 of their 29 league games this campaign but turned six of them around into four wins and two draws. Robins believes that if they can come out of the blocks faster they should be able to convert more games into wins.
