Ferguson Expects Sedgwick Movement

Ferguson Expects Sedgwick Movement

The transfer window is open for a few more days and with only one permanent signing having come into Oakwell so far, Robins may be looking to do some more business before it slams shut again until the summer.

The latest rumour seems to be that Robins has enquired about winger Chris Sedgwick, sparked off by the report in the Lancashire Evening Post on Preston's win over Peterborough on Tuesday night which said: 'There was no Chris Sedgwick in the squad, the winger in talks with Barnsley about a move to Oakwell.'

After Preston's victory over Peterborough United, North End boss Darren Ferguson told the press: 'Chris Sedgwick is out of contract in the summer, so we will wait and see. There might be developments but there might not.'

Now why mention that a player could be leaving the club imminently if he is not going to?

Jamal Campbell-Ryce's departure to Bristol City last week has further fuelled the rumour that Preston North End's Chris Sedgwick may be joining the club in the near future.

Sedgwick is no stranger to Mark Robins. The pair spent a successful spell together at Rotherham United under Ronnie Moore in the early 2000's earning promotion together to the Championship. The 29 year old Sedgwick started with the Millers as a trainee and moved to Preston North End in 2004 for a fee of £400,000. He has made a career toal of 515 appearances, scoring 33 goals.
