'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Robins Praises His Players

Barnsley manager Mark Robins spoke of his delight at the Reds' 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough on Saturday.

He told the club's official website: 'I always knew it was going to be difficult today because we'd lost three players that have been instrumental in what we've done.' Robins was speaking of course about Nathan Doyle, Ryan Shotton and Carl Dickinson, who have all returned from loan spells at Barnsley to their respective parent clubs.

Robins recalled Rob Kozluk, Stephen Foster and Adam Hammill to the side to replace the three players that went back and the captain, Foster, came up with the goods in the second half with a headed equaliser. The manager was full of praise for his entire team for the effort they showed at getting forward: 'It was nice to see Fozzy get one (chance) and put that one in.'

When asked what he feels his squad can achieve in the new year being just seven points off the play-offs with two games in hand, Robins was clearly keeping his feet firmly on the ground, asking people to remember that the club had just one point when he came in: 'Our aim is to win the next game.'

Obviously he doesn't want the fans to get carried away with the form the Reds have found but the longer the unbeaten run goes on for, the more difficult that task will become as the Reds continue to ascend the Championship.
